Welcome Frederick!

I agree with the second part of your post and partly with the first, but in this particular case not one statistic but 4 are pointing into my direction. It's obvious NTs are less likely to be religious.

Technically I am agnostic. You know, the whole "you can't disprove" blahblahblah...

I still prefer to call myself an atheist though. I mean, I could tomorrow come up with the story of the invisible giant pink bunny who travels the universe and you would have to be agnostic about it (you cannot prove I am wrong, he is invisible anyway), that can lead to pretty comic situations.
Let's say that despite the fact the existence of a god cannot be disproved, I seriously lean towards "no god", just like I'd lean towards "No bunny" in the universe traveler story (my original bunny was a planet eater, it was more fun).

Those are my thoughts exactly. :)

If I were agnostic about every unproven thing that comes up in my life, I'd be pretty inefficient. I'd be stuck.

NTs are of course very unlikely to be religious, while NFs are quite likely to believe in some higher power or adopt spiritual and mystical theories, but I doubt the intuitiveness of anyone that takes the desert god's uninspired religious doctrines at face value.

i do not question the validity of your
statistics. it's just that there are many
factors that affect if a person is, for
example, religious. i am pretty sure
there are many factors much more
decisive than mbti type.
therefore statistics like those should
not be taken very seriously at an
individual level. there's just too many
other factors that can't just be neglected
that easily.

Yes, of course there are many factors. I'm just saying MBTI type IS a factor in our attitude towards religion and God.

*A* factor perhaps, but not *THE* factor. The MBTI is a nice way to find out a little about yourself or others around you, but is not an exact science. You can learn much more about a person by simply speaking to them then by trying to attach an MBTI label to them.

I'm generally indifferent to the subject of religion. But if I were forced to answer, I guess I'd say I'm agnostic. Sometimes I see some merit in religion, but other times I just can't fathom why some people believe this whole massive earth was created by a single, father-in-the-sky figure. I'm interested in religion in an anthropological way. I like studying religions, but not adhering to them.

i'm not sure exactly what some of those terms mean that some of you mention, i think i'll have to look them up.
i prefer truth but will respect everyones beliefs, and since i don't know what god is but i sense the effects of something greater than me then i don't know what i am

i might just be a carrot for all i know lol

but i do believe in reincarnation, not scientifically proven......as yet

ehm.

to add some actual content: i habitually avoid discussions about deities.
they always turn into ad hominem battles and sad faces. to avoid turning
this preface into something very ironic i will only say that i, of course,
do not mind at all what people believe. the only thing i ask is that people,
may it be evangelics, atheists, pantheists w/e display an apatheistic attitude.
or well, i don't care what introverted attitude people have. i just want their
extroverted attitude to be apatheistic. it would be a lot cozier.

also: hi.
my name is fredrik.
pleased to meet you.

*takes a seat in the corner*

Hey Frederik. You hit the nail on the head :) I believe that everyone should have that attitude.
Life is a comedy to those who think and a tragedy to those who feel.

I was under the impression that INFPs are one of the more likely types to have faith (spirituality/religion/etc.) but I can't quote a specific source off hand. In my myself was raised Christian and in college took a lot of existential psychology courses. I then tweaked my views and considered myself to be an existential humanist Christian because I didn't like the word atheist but Christian didn't quite fit either. My boyfriend mentioned a few months ago during a discussion on religion (he's an ENTJ and an atheist) that he thought the word deist would better describe my beliefs. I had an epiphany of sorts and came to the conclusion he was correct. It would appear that there are others here with similar beliefs which is new and exciting for me because so far I have been met with nothing but suspicion and skeptism from those around me when mentioning deism/theism.

I think it is understandable that many intuitive types would be less inclined to organized religion. I have observed that it is very beneficial to some people, but it never suited me.
I have never cared for labels of religious or atheist or even agnostic. I wouldn't fully identify with any of them. I suppose I subscribe to the point of view that anything is possible. Some people would say that makes me agnostic, but that says something about the rational side of the question, and nothing about the experiential aspect, the sense of being part of something greater than oneself that sometimes cannot be rationally explained - an experience that I cannot deny having, although I could not venture to offer an explanation for.

I am an agnostic (less headaches) not sure if it is a good thing to generalize, but yes i think NF lean more to believe in a God more than the NTs from what i observed.

I definitely am religious and believe in God. I've also had experiences where I've felt God has "left me a message" and God has helped me on numerous occasions to boot!! In fact, I feel very sorry for the people that do me harm..I've seen great harm come to those people and I believe God kicks them mightily in the ass!!

Isn't he supposed to punish them when they pass on to that "other world"?

Perhaps we're not thinking about the same God?
