Tree of Life.
Even a tree knows enough, not to cut away its roots, in order to be free.
Roots are important things. You can venture to be free without committing suicide in the process.
Besides, like a tree, you have your own task to perform.
A tree doesn't need to know what its task is, in order to perform it.
Neither do you.

Re: Tree of Life.
In a way, I am. The movie of life. Except life isn't actually a movie. Which is what I write mostly about.
What would you prefer? Someone writing about what they think about a movie you saw, or about the nature of life, itself?

I've actually never seen the movie so I can't really say.

Re: Tree of Life.
I didn't even know there was a movie by that name.
Good name. I hope the movie does the name justice.

Re: Tree of Life.
I feel like I'm missing the point of the first post but whatever. (I had to sit down for an hour to figure it out lol)
When the roots are cut off, would one still call it a tree?

Re: Tree of Life.
It's a metaphor, which guarantees that most people won't 'get it'.
It compares people to suicidal trees that think they can do better without those troublesome roots to hinder them.
But roots turn out to be actually rather important.
Without them, you're screwed.

Re: Tree of Life.
But...at some point of time people no longer rely on their "roots" for nutrients. People become independent, self-sufficient. One can detach him/herself from his/her roots without committing suicide. Trees don't have the ability to pull out their own roots. Trees don't "know" like people know. People can uproot themselves and still survive. Roots become dead weight. I don't quite understand what you're trying to get at here with this faulty metaphor.

Re: Tree of Life.
You may be the faulty one here. People really don't 'know' much of anything, hence the metaphor.
They'd know more if they could derive meaning from the metaphor; hence the metaphor.
But as I said: few will understand it, being so - ah - independent.

Re: Tree of Life.
Hmm...okay, a dismissal of simple logic....but you can't argue this: You are a person, therefore you don't know much of anything, "hence' the nonsensical metaphor. In your words. Unless you'd care to explain it some other way? Can you even explain it yourself? If you won't bother elaborating then your snotty attitude isn't much justified, don't you think? Are you not saying "I need my mummy to survive"? Because that's what that metaphor is summing up to right now. So, you see, I understand it quite well. I just think it's a load of crap. Pardon my bluntness...

No, I won't pardon your bluntness, although that is the least of it.
Nice start, human. I am so very familiar with characters like you.
You get ignored, period.

You are in denial [Period period] Crow, is it? Lacking in basic reasoning skills... don't handle criticism well...immature and rude. Birds are simple creatures after all.
