Words you like and words you hate

Post by Pam » Sat Apr 02, 2011 11:41 pm

There are some words that just sound awesome or you love their meaning while others annoy you just by existing.

I like how these words sound:

profoundly
balance
sage
havoc
fuzzy

Words I don't like:

vowel
terrorist
soccer

I like how "fuzzy" sounds too lol

hate: "rusty" and "desuetude" (pronunciation and meaning too)

oh yeah, and "precipitation"

and why do people write "presently" or "currently" instead of just NOW?

I like:

-Vaguely any word of Anglo-Saxon origin. Particularly those containing "for-" like forgive, forget, forsake, forego, foretell, etc.

I dislike:

-Pop marketing words like connection, link, company, quality, etc.

Words I like:

phenomenon
mythological
archetypal
journey
epic
imagination

Words I don't like:

now
by
list (ironic huh? I hear it; I cringe... I see it; I make one)
deadline (You can't be any more dramatic about a frame of time than to add the word dead into it?)
test (oh how I hate this word)

I have a love/hate relationship with the word curmudgeon.

I absolutely adore abominable and (in)dubitable/-y, they're just so fun to say!
There's probably other similar words, but I can't think of any right now...

"People" bugs me though. I mean, the usage of it is so unclear to me ._.

I kind of hate the word "cookie".

I had not faced any difficulty or complications with the 70-410 braindumps in the preparation of my CFA admission test. For more details, visit University of Malaya, Facebook, wikipedia, and Youtube.

I do not like the word "whisperer", e.g. Horse Whisperer, Ghost Whisperer. Too many "er"s! Sounds stupid, like you couldn't think of a better word.

On 30 Rock there was a running gag about fictional movies with bad titles. They were "The Rural Juror" and "Urban Fervor". Again, the "erer" sound, it just does not sound right!
